Bringing together more than 650 of the region’s most accomplished leaders from the business, government, and nonprofit sectors, the LGW Celebration of Leadership serves as the largest celebration of diverse, cross-sector changemakers in our region. This year, LGW will proudly honor Pinkie Mayfield (’01), Chief Communications Officer and Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Graham Holdings Company, with the 2023 LGW Leader of the Years award. Over the past 30 years, Pinkie has continuously demonstrated a strong commitment to our community through her work with a number of non-profit, community and civic organizations. Passionate about the advancement of women and children through education, she has made a positive impact on the lives of so many in the region. About the Honoree
Pinkie Dent Mayfield (’01) has continuously shown a strong commitment to serving our community. Passionate about the advancement of women and children through education, she has had a positive impact on the lives of so many in the region. She serves on the boards of the District of Columbia College Access Program (DC-CAP), the Philip L. Graham Fund and Dumbarton Arts and Education.
Pinkie is a past board chair of Leadership Greater Washington (Class of 2001), and previously chaired the board of the Washington Area Women’s Foundation. Over the past 30 years, she has served a host of other non-profit, community, and civic organizations in our region. Honored with the Washington Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Award (2013), Pinkie also received an Honorary Doctor of Laws (2016) from her alma mater, Trinity Washington University, where she previously served on the board of trustees.
Pinkie is the Chief Communications Officer and Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Graham Holdings Company (formerly The Washington Post Company) where she is a key member of the executive team responsible for corporate affairs, public relations, communications, strategic initiatives, and advising the chairman on matters of special interest.
