Building a New Generation of Leaders

March 3, 2022

On February 25 we said hello to the new class of Youth Leadership Greater Washington for their first session at The Westin Washington, DC. We are committed not just to connecting leaders, but to building them as well, and are always thrilled to see a room full of enthusiastic, engaged high school students from all over the region.

In this session, focused on Leadership Development, participants were given the opportunity to learn about one another in a series of exercises designed to make connections and develop a stronger idea of what to expect from the program. Highlights included Darnell Eaton from the Washington Improv Theatre leading the students in improv exercises, Ana Chapa (’18) from Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School helping them construct a leadership toolkit, and Mary Abajay (’06) from Careerstone Group providing an opportunity to explore their different personality types.

It’s always an exciting time welcoming a new YLGW class, and we’re looking forward to the next session. Stay tuned as we follow these students on their leadership journey!

Thank you to The Westin Washington, DC for their generous support of the program. For more information on Youth Leadership Greater Washington please visit the program page. We're always on the lookout for the next class, so if you have a young leader in your life keep them in mind when applications open for the class of 2023.
