Politics and Civility at Work

Hosted by Emily M. Dickens, Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs, SHRM

Led by Emily M. Dickens, SHRM Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs, this panel will explore the intersection of political discourse and workplace civility, examining how polarized environments impact professional interactions, mental health, and productivity. As political ideologies shape deeply held identities, the challenge for organizations is clear: workplace policies should foster respect, not partisanship. This discussion will offer actionable insights on how leaders can govern through respect, create inclusive environments, and uphold a culture of civility—both inside and outside the workplace.
