Our Lessons in Leadership series has welcomed leaders across many sectors – business, sports, transit, and beyond. And on April 17, we’re bringing something new to the table: the performing arts. The arts occupy a unique position in our regional ecosystem, providing not just entertainment, but also a service for the people that faces crises of funding, civic, and societal pressures. This unique mission demands a special kind of leader, one that straddles a fence of artistic ambition and financial sustainability, and Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, the only national park for the performing arts, has that leadership in their President & CEO, Arvind Manocha.
Arvind Manocha has served as president and CEO of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts since January 2013. From major pop acts to children’s shows to opera and more, Manocha directs Wolf Trap’s year-round performing arts programming – among the most wide-ranging and diverse in the music business. Additionally, he oversees the full scope of the Foundation’s educational activities, including its nationally recognized arts education programs and the Wolf Trap Opera, one of the nation’s premier rising artist training programs. Previously, Manocha was Chief Operating Officer at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where he ran the Hollywood Bowl for more than a decade.
Arvind will be joining us for Lessons in Leadership to discuss his experience as a leader in the performing arts sector, past and present, and how he navigates a field prone to pressures and challenges from all directions while remaining dedicated to creating enrichment – and entertainment – opportunities for audiences from all walks of life.
