Sports in the Washington region have been a big topic of discussion in recent years. From Capital One Arena’s near loss of the Wizards and Capitals to Northern Virginia, to the return of the Commanders to the RFK site, the “District of Sports” has more than earned the moniker. But there’s another story that’s just as compelling.

When Paul Toboni joined the Nationals last year as President of Baseball of Operations, he brought a wealth of experience from his time at the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox, experience formed on the field and off. Adept at both business and playing the game, he was the perfect fit for a team that was seen by fans as struggling to live up to past successes. And most incredibly, at only 35 years of age, he was officially the youngest top executive in Major League Baseball.

We were fortunate to get together with Toboni and Jermaine Johnson of PNC for a candid conversation about his rise in baseball and business, his leadership values, and of course, a little bit of inside baseball.
