Boys and Girls Club Service Day
March 22, 2019
It can be hard being a kid, but thankfully, organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs make being a kid a bit easier.
During our February 26 Community Service Day at the Richard England Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, LGW Members had an opportunity to learn about the services provided to kids in our region. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington provide children with a safe place and strong programming to help them reach their full potential. Some of their offerings include:
- Opening at 7AM and closing at 7PM to help working parents
- An hour dedicated to homework completion before any other activities are allowed
- Caring staff with a genuine concern for each child
After we learned about their facility and the programs offered, LGW Members took part in helping the facility with what they needed most: cleaning and tidying up to prepare for Summer Camp!
As many people know, LGW Members are no strangers to teamwork (think ropes course during Signature Program Opening Retreat), and it showed throughout the duration of our service. Several Signature Program classes were represented, and everyone came together as one to get the job done.
How’d we do?
We think Marie Kondo would be proud.
Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington President & CEO, Gabrielle Webster (’13) and Mayra Kawmy, Manager, Corporate Giving, for opening their doors to allow us to serve yesterday!
