It’s a little over three months until the Celebration of Leadership on Thursday, October 30, and as our biggest night of the year, it’s something we hope you’re all looking forward to (we certainly are!). And for those who are, we thought we’d provide an alphabetical refresher of what to expect:

L is for Leader of the Years

The Celebration of Leadership is about honoring extraordinary leaders from around the region and across all sectors, and this year we’re celebrating our 2025 Leader of the Years, Terry Kenny (’16). A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Terry has demonstrated exceptional leadership in both business and his commitment to nonprofit organizations across the region, through dedicated board service, volunteering, and charitable support. He’s an incredible asset to the LGW community and the Greater Washington region, and we can’t wait for him to take the stage!

G is for Gathering Together

Every year, we welcome over 600 leaders to the Celebration of Leadership, an unparalleled gathering of the region's top decision-makers under one roof. It’s a chance for you to meet new people, foster and build connections, and make new things happen. It’s also a chance to reconnect with your LGW Class, so this year we’re offering the Class Reunion Sponsorship, an exclusive discounted opportunity for Members to secure a table for themselves and their Classmates to enjoy the night together. Email Shayla Hines-Graham, Director of Development & Engagement, at shinesgraham@lgwdc.org for more information!

W is for the Washington Region (and Beyond!)

We’re convening to celebrate not just extraordinary leaders, but also the extraordinary region in which we live, work, and make a positive impact. It’s no secret that Greater Washington is facing hardship – from federal layoffs to local budgetary constraints, challenges abound. The Celebration of Leadership is a chance to lift up our region and the people in it, to forge new connections that make our impact stronger as leaders and as citizens. While this is a night to celebrate, not work, it is a night to celebrate the work we do, and the work we will do, to ensure the continued success of the place we call home.
