Recently we asked our Members for resources to help support others who have recently been impacted by job loss, loss of business, or other fallout from the changes felt across the region. And you answered. Resoundingly. See below for a selection of what we received, and of course, if you have any other ways to meet the moment, please reach out to the LGW team at info@lgwdc.org.
- Andrew Flagel’s (’23) organization, The Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, is working with their member institutions to help our region respond to the projected shifts in the federal workforce sector. Follow this link to see how they’re partnering in support with dedicated websites, upcoming career transition events, print and online resources, education financial support, featured academic programs for the community, as well as career and support services for their own students and alumni.
- Julie Kantor’s (’00) company, Twomentor, is offering to run a mentor-buddy initiative to help members impacted/displaced by recent changes that might need support and/or two virtual flash mentoring sessions on resiliency and leadership. Contact her at julie[at]twomentor.com for more information.
- On the weekend of July 18, Keisha Robinson’s (’23) company, Levels2This, is hosting a weekend getaway at the Casa Om retreat center, nestled in the rolling mountains of West Virginia along the Shenandoah River. This retreat is an open invitation to those who lead, serve, or support others in any capacity to explore multifaceted practices that provide not only rest and relaxation, but also fortify your energy and support lasting resilience. - Linda Cassell (’98), a certified executive and neuroleadership coach, is offering to lead workshops that teach how to effectively navigate and function even during complex, emotional, and challenging situations; unlock hidden beliefs that may be impeding the ability to move forward; and understand the “resistance to changing behaviors” necessary to create positive change. As a former resume writer and recruiter, she can also provide feedback on resumes and effectively telling your story (why you should hire me) to prospective employers. Contact her at linda[at]quantumleapct.com for more information.
- Leslie Traub (’07) is hosting a Virginia farm retreat on the weekend of June 6 (with two more dates in the fall) and is offering substantial scholarships to women who have lost their jobs, careers, or contracts due to the changes in the federal government. Those impacted need an incredible amount of support, tending and love, and a safe place to grieve and be heard; the Rewiring Together program will give them a retreat from the noise and will help guide them to the future. - Join trainer Kimberly Dailey (’25) on Friday, May 30, or Friday, June 6 for a free virtual behind-the-scenes look at Practicing Resilience, a dynamic new program from Dailey Innovations designed to help professionals recover, reset, and rise without the burnout.
