Special 35th Anniversary Edition: Celebrating Black History Month
As we begin our year of celebration in honor of the positive community impact of LGW leaders, we invite you for a conversation with a leader with the unique distinction of being successful as both a neuroscientist, legislator, and university president.
Charlene Drew Jarvis ('92) played an instrumental role in rebuilding the community of Washington, DC in the aftermath of the riots following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She was then elected six times to the DC council.
Her distinguished leadership experience includes key contributions to early legislative initiatives designed to prevent redlining by commercial banks and the disruption of racial disparities in healthcare nationwide. As we honor Black history month, we will have the chance to learn what Black history means to Charlene Drew Jarvis ('92) and hear stories specific to our region and LGW.
