It started with the Girl Scouts.
Diane Tipton's father was a Boy Scout leader. Her early exposure to scouting inspired her to join the local Girl Scouts chapter, and many years later to serve as President of the Girl Scouts Nation's Capital. For her, the Girl Scouts provided an "opportunity to create girls of courage, confidence, and character in their own way." And it was the Girl Scouts that opened the celebration of Diane as our 2022 Leader of the Years.
We often call the Celebration of Leadership, once again held at the Grand Hyatt Washington, DC, our biggest night of the year. And it's no exaggeration. This year we welcomed over 500 regional leaders representing over 300 organizations to celebrate the extraordinary leadership that makes our region an incredible place to live, work, and serve.
And to have some fun together while we're at it!
But we were especially gathered to honor Diane Tipton ('98) as our 2022 Leader of the Years. A graduate of the 1998 LGW Signature Program, through both her business and charitable works Diane has shown great commitment and care for the communities of today and the leaders of tomorrow. We were honored to have her on our stage!
And we're forever grateful to our host committee - co-chaired by Ron Adolph ('98), Gene Sachs ('98), and Lidia Soto-Harmon ('07), all dear friends, colleagues, and classmates of Diane's - for helping us make it all happen.
It was truly another evening for the ages. Check out more photos from the event, as well as our video celebrating Diane, and we'll see you again next year!
Thank you to our amazing sponsors - Leaders, Benefactors, Patrons, and everyone else who supported the Celebration of Leadership - for helping us create another magical evening!
